Covers July 30 - August 31, 2025.

When I started KeyStrike on July 30, I said I wanted a public version within days rather than months. It took eight days. Version 1.0 went into production on August 7, which still seems a little ridiculous. The part I had not planned for was knowing when to stop.

I kept going after launch. The roadmap from that first entry was mostly a list of things I thought a typing game ought to have. By the end of the month, it had eight bot personalities with unique typing styles. It also featured a friend system for direct challenges, experience points, levels, and daily and weekly challenges. The separate desktop and mobile leaderboards made it too, along with several game modes I had not planned when I started.

The last release for the month was 1.2.1. Most of that work was performance and making the progressive web app behave itself. By then, I was ready to put the project down because it finally did what I designed it to do. React had clicked for me, Convex worked well as a backend, and the game felt real enough for people to use.

Update, August 2026: KeyStrike is still running. I have opened the repository since for audits, dependency updates, and stricter type fixes, but I have not added another game feature. It does what I wanted it to do. I’m happy to leave it there.
