We're Not The Choir
Posted August 14, 2017
You're preaching to the choir - your choir. No matter which side of the fence or county or aisle you're on, if you're preaching, you're preaching to those who already agree with you. Anyone who doesn't, isn't listening or is exercising extreme patience with you because you're normally a nice person (or a family member).
Those who are not shouting about or reposting things that reflect our polarized viewpoint, are the only ones capable of truly receiving, processing, and either acting or not, as the situation calls for.
Somewhere along the line, Americans forgot how to debate. Or at least how to concede a valid point. Maybe that's it, we've somehow lost the ability to reason logically on our own. A vast majority, anyway! It's a very vocal group, no matter the size.
If you're shouting, we hear you. If anything, it puts off the very audience you desire to convince. Some of us are not and will never be your audience, but we're connected to you for other reasons. Do us a favor. Turn it down, our patience is wearing thin.
